Why You Need to Be Concerned About the Van Jones Mess

The mess surrounding Green Jobs Czar Van Jones began to peak yesterday when it was revealed he was a 9/11 truther, for which he issued a feeble denial. This is on top of some of his other wacko claims such as white environmentalists are diverting toxic waste into black neighborhoods. Jones was even captured on tape calling all Republican's a**holes, which while not politically correct, is at times true of both parties. Some of Greens greatest hits include:
  • One day after the 9/11 attacks, President Obama's "green jobs czar" led a vigil that expressed solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans as well as what he called the victims of "U.S. imperialism" around the world.
  • "There is a green wave coming, with renewable energy, organic agriculture, cleaner production," Jones said. "Our question is: Will the green wave lift all boats? That's the moral challenge to the people who are the architects of this new, ecologically sound economy. Will we have eco-equity, or will we have eco-apartheid? Right now we have eco-apartheid."
  • The white polluters and the white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people of color communities because they don’t have a racial justice frame.”
  • … there’s a problem .. left to itself this new third wave of environmentalism could become eco-apartheid … the ecological ‘haves’ could just get more and the ecological ‘have nots’ could just get less and less …
How were these revelations found? Did Glenn Beck hire some super sleuth? Is Gateway Pundit a former CIA Agent? Maybe someone broke into Van Jones house and stole the scrapbook of his greatest speeches that his mom has been keeping since he was a child? No, just concerned citizens, average schmoes with access to a computer, the internet, google and you tube.

The real issue of the entire Van Jones mess involves the White House, because if the average citizen could find out all of this information about Van Jones just by searching the internet, why didn't the White House? Or worse, did the President and his staff know all of this and just didn't care?

If it is a matter of lousy vetting, what else did they miss? Are there a other people working at the White House with credentials that are much worse than Van Jones? At the very least this is a condemnation of the President's 40+person "Czar" team, none of whom requires a Senate confirmation which at the very least is another round of vetting.

If Jones was properly vetted, who overruled the vetting team and sponsored him to become part of the government? If the POTUS and his staff knew about Jones and his off the chart opinions, what does that say about the White House? Beyond his provocative statements, Jones is self described communist. Even though the cold war is long gone, that is still disturbing to most Americans. When you put the two together, it makes one wonder if the POTUS agrees with Van Jones on his wacko comments.

More than anything, that question, "does the POTUS agree with Van Jones?" is the reason this Van Jones mess matters?

UPDATE: Gateway Pundit has found an even EARLIER example of Van Jones truther status. Two years before the petition he has denied
